| This is a vintage tankard, jug or large mug artist signed by Walter Lamonby, head artist for Crown Devon, Fieldings England for 40 years. The tankard was hand painted by Lamonby and features the embossed profile of the character John Peel, a fox and riding crop, figural riding crop handle and the poem. song or motto on the reverse. The large mug or jug measures 4.25 inches high by 4.75 in diameter at base. Walter Lamonby served his apprenticeship at George Jones and Sons, Crescent China and then a period at Aynsley before going to Crown Devon where he was artist in residence and art director for 40 years until his death in 1952. The tankard is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear. A wonderful character and a great example of Lamonby work. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured. | |||||||||
