This is a hand colored blue transfer or transferware figural molded shell shaped dish in the Charlotte pattern made by Royal Crownford, England in the 1930s. This design was made by several potteries and is thought to have been originated by Clarice Cliff at Royal Wilkinson in the 1920s. This character jug or toby jug is a tall 6 inches high and depicts an old lady with flashy earrings! She is handpainted and was made by Burlington Ware of J. Shaw potteries, Staffordshire, England. I saw her at an antiques market in Gloucester (in the snow!) & had to bring her home. She is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restorations.
