The initial plate unscrews from the base and the piece is beautifully made and is in very good +++ condition but does show some wear on the fancy thistle leaf design on the handle from use. The oval hand set cabachon shaped goldstone in a bezel was a victorian stone creation and very popular, measures 1.25 inches long by .6 inches wide.
