This set of small tongs is hallmarked for London, England 1884 with the maker's mark CB and are possible saccharine tongs for the artificial sweetner that was quite popular in the late victorian period until being banned in 1911 as a menace to health. The tongs are 4 inches long and are in excellent condition.

The sugar tongs measure 6 inches long and are hallmarked for London, England in 1822 which means before Queen Victoria came to the thrown in the Regency period. The sugar tongs have the a gothic script monogram FM on the bow. The sugar tongs have spoon ends and a Georgian design. They are in excellent condition from an historic period. Beau Brummel or Jane Austen would have loved them.

The curved finial is a hand saw pierced crest of the City of Birmingham and the bowl has the embossed Town Hall of Birmingham in the bowl with an embossed foliage border. I believe the pattern is called Chatham. The marks or the D for Durgin, Sterling Pat'd and the tongs date 1900-1920. The box has a gothic engraved initial C, I think. The tongs measure 3.75 inches long and would add elegance to any tea table.
