This is a victorian hair receiver or hair receptacle made by the Queen City Silver Company of Cinncinati, Ohio USA 1890-1910 and was a part of every victorian woman's vanity set. This particular piece is of pressed glass with a damascened or niello silverplate lid. The hair receiver measures 2.5 inches high by 5 inches in diameter. It is in excellent condition. Hair was collected from hair brushes etc and saved by being pushed thorugh the hole in the lid, and then woven, curled, teased etc. ...click for details

This is a fabulous silver metal mesh purse made by Whiting and Davis 1910-1920 with the tag inside. It measures 5 inches high by 5 inches wide at the bottom and has an 8 inch curb chain handle. It has a fancy art nouveau pierced silverplated frame. The catch is tight and it has it's perfect pale pink silk moire lining. There is some slight wear and a bit of plating loss to the frame. This is a pretty antique mid victorian pair of silver plate knife rests I got in England recently. The knife rests measure 3 inches long and are 1 inches high and wide and the ends have a maltese cross like shaped end with a fancy barley twist bar. The pair of antique knife holders is in excellent condition and were made in the 1850-1870s and are very decorative as well as practical to keep the tablecloth clean.
