Hudson of Longton, Staffordshire England 1892-1905. Imari became popular with the influence of japanese ceramics at that time. It features flow blue, rust and green hand painted onto a brown floral stylized design transfer with gold trim. It is in excellent condition with no chips,cracks or restorations but does a minor bit of gold wear. A lovely piece. The shape is #1672 and the classical design is called Sacrifice Figures in applied white jasper. The fittings are silver plate EPNS and the maker is Walker and Hall Sheffield, England. The biscuit barrel measures 5.75 inches high without handle by 5.75 in diameter and is in excellent condition. There is some minor plate wear to the lid. The victorian pattern is called Blue Sprig or Chelsea Sprig but has been overpainted and then glazed and fired with a copper luster on the sprig decoration. Very unusual.
